Why you should or shouldn’t attend VeeamON 2019!

Yes, you are reading this right. The title states both should and shouldn’t.

Shouldn’t attend? Are you mad?

VeeamON is per defacto the premier conference for Cloud Data Management. If you look at the packed agenda and the amazing line-up of speakers, I wouldn’t doubt for a second and attend – but that’s just me.

However, if you are expecting an event like VMworld, Microsoft Ignite or Amazon re:Invent, you may be disappointed and here is why…

  • Data is everywhere and it is the premier conference for Cloud Data Management

VeeamON is different!

VeeamON is nothing like the bigger events (to give you an idea, VeeamON has around 2000-3000 attendees every year where the big ones have 10000+). There is a specific vibe and level of energy at VeeamON which makes it truly unique. Add on top of that a legendary VeeamON party (hey Flo-Rida!) and you get a perfect mix of business and fun.

People come to learn about what’s important in terms of data management and what is going on right now but also with a glimpse of the future and how to prepare for it. Backups aren’t just backups anymore… It’s more. It’s an important aspect of the business, no matter where your data is. VeeamON primary focus is you and your company’s data! Whether the data is on-premises or in a hybrid or public cloud, whether you are using SaaS… VeeamON covers it all.

And this makes it a beauty, data is everywhere so there actually isn’t a reason you shouldn’t attend. You just don’t want to miss out!

But there is more, attendees tend to be more open and share experiences at VeeamON. I’ve been at many major events and these things just happen. User groups happen during the event, people talk after breakouts and as they meet new people, new ideas come alive.

The reason this happens is the fact that Veeam is focussed on technical people who are eager to learn and improve and Veeam is known for loving them. Many will still remember an old Veeam ‘tagline’: Veeam for virtualization lovers. Can you believe this was only 7 years ago and look at Veeam now? Moving from ‘just virtual’ to physical, Cloud, SaaS,… Wow!

Why you shouldn’t attend?

Yes, I said shouldn’t before and only talked about should. If you really want a reason why you shouldn’t attend, here are a few:

  • You are pregnant and due for May/June (don’t travel please).
  • Your wife is pregnant and due for May/June (be there to comfort her).
  • Your kid(s) are graduating/going to school for the first time/… (life is short before you know it they will be leaving the house)

If you can’t see the pattern: family is important. We all love our work and we all love a good conference with a party but there is one thing that will stand out: family.

But as I stated before, since VeeamON is about data, and data is everywhere, you should be there!

If you are attending: come say hi and let’s improve together!
